MY HISTORY

My name is Valentijn Jochem Straks. As a young boy, I started cleaning wheels with my father for the first time in 1984. Even then, I found it beautiful to see how dirty wheels would be rejuvenated during cleaning. This was done with a regular paintbrush. There weren't as many types of cleaning supplies available then as there are now. Later on, I also got to do the lacquering of cars and vacuuming. Washing was done with a regular sponge and one bucket, not two buckets or special sponges or gloves.

The love of cleaning (that's what it used to be called, not detailing) gradually grew on me. Eventually, around my sixteenth year, I built my own clientele and they were satisfied. Polishing didn't exist back then. We used to just polish with old sheets and thick cloths to apply the lacquer, waiting for it to dry a bit, and then polishing it. We did the same for the windows.

Now, at fifty, I am proud to open the doors of VJS to my current and future clients. The art of detailing and polishing vehicles will be a natural continuation of my humble beginnings. Seeing the transformation of a car, delivered in perfect condition, fills my heart with satisfaction and pride.
